Place Development and Regeneration
Place making and area regeneration are key building blocks of economic development. We have wide experience of working with public and private clients in the development, appraisal and evaluation of physical development and regeneration projects.
Our expertise covers all aspects of place building and area regeneration, including:
Area Regeneration – Urban / Rural Development
We have extensive experience in area regeneration, ranging from masterplans and options appraisal for major projects to assisting smaller community-led initiatives in urban and rural settings. Past experience includes regeneration plans, analysis of issues and constraints, impact assessments and market appraisals.
Property Market Research
We regularly undertake supply, demand, market failure and impact assessments for a range of property market sectors and development projects including: business, residential, leisure, education and retail, and have prepared numerous property strategies for local areas.
Transport and Connectivity
Transport is an essential ‘hygiene factor’ in place development and regeneration. At EKOS we have considerable experience of research to support transport and connectivity projects including major developments to road and rail networks, airports and shipping, as well the telecommunications infrastructure.
Historic Buildings
We prepare economic viability assessments and project business plans for the restoration and redevelopment of historic buildings. Past studies include Greek Thomson’s St Vincent Street Church in Glasgow, the historic Weavers Triangle in Burnley and Mosesfield House and Winter Gardens in Springburn.
Property Development Support
We regularly work with private sector clients to support planning applications and assist with funding applications to public sector organisations. Our experience covers all areas of property development including residential, leisure, business, education and retail.
Town Centre Regeneration
We work both independently and in partnership with other consultants to develop, appraise and evaluate town centre regeneration projects, and are adept at identifying constraints and opportunities facing individual locations.
We have long-standing relationships with architects, masterplanners and property consultants, and regularly combine our skills and resources to build teams with broad expertise that can fully meet clients’ needs.
