Madeline Smith, Head of Innovation
Madeline Smith is responsible for the development of our work in relation to innovation, cluster development and industry policy. She joined EKOS from Scottish Enterprise where she led innovative approaches to cluster development, innovation and evaluation as Manager of the Industries Development Team, including the design and implementation of a new approach to analysis and evaluation for Priority Industry sectors. A recognised lead practitioner in the field of cluster analysis for public policy, Madeline brings experience from management positions in the public and private sectors, and has particular expertise in research, evaluation, policy and strategy development and delivery. She has worked with a wide range of external partners such as the European Commission, UK and Scottish Government, the university sector, industry stakeholders and small, medium and large enterprises.
Madeline has a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering and recently completed a Master in Enterprise (with distinction). A chartered engineer, her original experience was in manufacturing, strategy, new product development and logistics in the food and drink industry, having originally trained as a master brewer.
