Project and Programme Appraisal

Thorough and robust appraisal is the key to developing sustainable projects. We work closely with clients to devise, develop and appraise project concepts across all areas of economic, social and community development.

In particular, when resources and funding are scarce, the need to clearly demonstrate well thought out projects using robust appraisal techniques becomes even more important, in securing support.

Our expertise covers all areas of project appraisal – options analysis, economic impact, risk assessment, financial appraisal, cost-benefit analysis and market review.

Green Book Appraisal

EKOS has extensive experience in undertaking full Green Book Appraisals (GBA) and supporting projects through Central Government approval mechanisms. Our services also include economic impact assessment, cost-benefit analysis, DCF financial appraisal, full option appraisal, risk assessment and social return on investment.

Option Appraisal

EKOS provides specific support to undertake option appraisal, a key but often misunderstood part of the wider appraisal process. We work with clients to develop project specifications, establish critical objectives, develop the options long list, and undertake analysis to determine the key options which merit more detailed appraisal.

Appraisal Training

EKOS provides bespoke training to help clients and their partners to understand the fundamental aspects of appraisal techniques. This ensures that clients have the in-house skills to undertake robust analysis and appraisal.

Pre Appraisal Support

We work with clients to review and test the assumptions and claims presented in funding applications, and help to improve the presentation of their funding case. Our consultants have practical and hands-on experience of project development and delivery across a range of sectors including physical regeneration, community development, skills, tourism and key industry sectors, and are able to ensure that the strongest possible case for funding can be put forward.

Logic Modelling

EKOS is skilled in the development and appraisal of logic models, demonstrating the route from initial input (time and money), through project activity to intermediate project outputs, and final outcomes/impacts.

Our analysis includes reviewing the environment and context within which projects are delivered and making explicit the strategic and market failure rationales.
